BID ON THE-SALEROOM
A late 19th century garnet and paste brooch. The circular garnet cabochon, within a circular-shape garnet and red paste stepped surround. Length 3.3cms. Weight 15.3gms.
Overall condition good. Minor surface scratches/wear in keeping with general age and wear. Some residue of adhesive can be seen to the reverse of the brooch. Garnet cabochon dark red, heavily saturated, with fair clarity and typical inclusions. Garnet in fair condition with some abrasions and some surface cracks. Garnet and red paste well matched, showing a very slightly purplish-red, with good saturation and good to fair clarity. Please see the Important Notices for Purchasers for coloured gemstones.
