BID ON THE-SALEROOM
A late 19th century 18ct gold shell cameo brooch. Of oval outline, carved to depict a bacchante, within a stylised acanthus leaf and cannetille surround. Length 5.9cms. Weight 26.3gms.
Overall condition fair to good. Some surface scratches/ wear, discolouration and minor dents in keeping with general age and wear. Later base metal safety chain. Pin with slight bends. Shell with some fine cracks to one side, general slight wear to carving. Please see the Important Notices for Purchasers for coloured gemstones.
