A late 19th century 15ct gold ruby and split pearl brooch. The oval-shape ruby and split pearl cross, to the textured backing and scroll engraved surround. One split pearl deficient. Length 3.2cms. Weight 9.6gms.
Overall condition fair to good. Some surface scratches/ wear, discolouration and minor dents in keeping with general age and wear. Areas of discolouration to the outer surround. One split pearl deficient. Damage and wear to a couple of split pearls. Ruby medium pinkish red, fairly well saturated, with fair clarity and typical inclusions visible with the unaided eye. Stones in fair to poor condition with some fairly significant abrasion and nibbles to the girdle and facet edges. Soft solder visible to replacement clasp.
