A George III silver tea urn, the crested urn form with twin hinged loop handles, part fluted body and cover, reeded rims and tap, all raised on a circular foot and square plinth with shell and scroll feet. Hallmarked John Schofield, London 1792. Height measuring 11 3/4 inches (30 cm), gross weight 46.8 ozt (1456 grams).
The lot displays general scratches, marks and wear commensurate with the age and use. Heavy tarnishing and would benefit from a clean and polish. Wobbles. Dent to side from handle compression. Further minor dints. Removal of an engraving to the main body - silver feels thin in this area. The hallmarks are clear and legible.
