A George III silver mounted and agate box of octagonal sided form. Hallmarked with lion passant only, assumed London with maker's mark for Thomas Phipps & Edward Robinson (1790-1805). Maximum length measuring 6 cm.
The box displays some general wear, surface scratches and marks commensurate with the age and use. Tarnishing to the silver mounts and would benefit from a clean and polish. Split in the metal to the base rim at one of the corners. The agate panel in the lid appears a little loose in the mount. The hinges appear in working order. Some rubbing to the marks but still clearly legible. Lion passant and maker's mark only.
