A George II-style walnut bureau of small proportions, 19th century. The rectangular top with cushion-moulded three-quarter gallery over crossbanded and moulded sloping fall enclosing a fitted interior with central cupboard, drawers and pigeonholes over well with sliding cover, the front having two short and two long crossbanded drawers with punch-decorated brass backplate bale handles with cushion-moulded spacers between, on bracket feet, 27.75 x 17.5 x 37 high, (70.5cm x 44.5cm x 94cm).
Minor lifting to gallery. Crack to lower left of sloping fall, some warping/gapping to upper left edge. Drawers possibly relined. A little pale, veneer too thin and construction not correct for 18th century but has signs of decent age (ie not reproduction).
