BID ON THE-SALEROOM
A George II memorial ring for Sir Gilbert Heathcote. Designed as a central black enamel band with leaf motif and personal inscription to the inner band reading 'Sr G. Heathcote Bar Ob 25 Jan 1732 at 81', who was the Governor of the Bank of England and Lord Mayor of London in the early 18th Century.Ring size G. Weight 5.5gms.
The condition of this lot is fair with wear to the metal and enamel in keeping with age and wear. The internal inscription reads 'Sr G. Heathcote Bar Ob 25 Jan 1732 at 81'. Different literature give varying years of death for Sir Heathcote, giving 1732 and 1733, and his memorial plaque at the church of Edith Weston St Mary in Leicestershire states 1732 3. - Shipping Info
