A Burmese ruby and diamond brooch. The pear-shape Burmese ruby, within an old and rose-cut diamond scrolling palmette, to the seed pearl terminal stem. Accompanied by report number 5775-2949, dated 9th September 2015, from The Gemmological Certification Services, stating the ruby weighing approximately 0.80cts, is of Burmese origin and has no indication of heating. Estimated total diamond weight 0.85ct. Length 4.1cms. Weight 4.5gms.
Overall condition fair to good. Some surface scratches/ wear, discolouration and minor dents in keeping with general age and wear. Possible replacement fittings. Diamonds well matched. Individual size and setting of diamonds prevents accurate colour and clarity assessment. Mostly small, scattered inclusions. Ruby is a deep medium pinky red hue, well saturated, with good clarity and few, typical inclusions. Ruby in good condition with minor to moderate facet-edge abrasions. Estimated dimensions of ruby: 6.5 by 4.5 by 2.9mms. Seed pearl untested for natural origin. Please see the Important Notices for Purchasers for coloured gemstones.
