A 1940's silver mounted jewellery box, of rectangular form with engine-turned decoration surrounding a vacant name panel to the front and raised on four foliate scroll feet, the hinged lid with sloped edges and opening to reveal a velvet lined interior fitted with various compartments and a removable ring tray. Hallmarked Birmingham 1946 with maker's mark 'B.G'. Measuring 9 1/8 inches (23.2 cm) by 6 1/4 inches (16 cm).
The box appears in fair to good condition. It is heavily tarnished throughout and would require a clean and polish. There is some general wear, surface scratching and marks. There is a very slight wobble so maybe the feet are a little uneven. Hinges appear in good working order. Some general wear to the fabric lining, likely replacement. The hallmarks are clear and legible.
