A 1920's silver cigarette case of rounded rectangular form, having foliate scroll engraving throughout and a monogrammed name panel, hallmarked John Rose, Birmingham 1924, length measuring 3 3/8 inches (8.5 cm). Together with a 1930's cigarette case with engine-turned decoration, hallmarked William Neale & Son Ltd., Birmingham 1939, length measuring 4 7/8 inches (12.5 cm). Gross weight 7.89 ozt (245.3 grams). (2).
Both cases display general surface scratches, marks, wear and tarnishing commensurate with the age and use. Both would benefit from a clean and polish. Some surface dints and bumps, especially to the 1930's case. Also numerous heavier scratches visible to this case. Hinges to both appear in working order, however both have a gap remaining when in the closed position. Damage to the elastic strap holders to the interior of the 1930's case. Engraved date to interior of 1920's case and personal inscription to interior of 1930's case. The hallmarks are clear and legible, some slight rubbing.
