- Lot Description
Gilt bronze. As expert navigators, the constellations signified mystery and power to Vikings. Lunar pendants were worn as pectorals as well as suspended from belts, other clothing, and horse harnesses. This example is just under 1 3/8" high with a tall bulbous central column superimposed on the crescent moon with a medial swell or roll. Matching bulbous terminals representing Sol the sun and Mani the Moon. The baluster column below is enclosed by a double crescent base. Professionally refurbished with the 24karat gold surface restored. Mounted on a modern gilt Sterling silver neck chain both are intended for contemporary wear. Gift boxed with a certificate of authenticity. Excellent detail and preservation.
