- Lot Description
Gilt bronze, size 7 ½. Broad round face band with the Roman thickened base and ridged shoulders. Lenticular bezel inscribed with the lituus, the wand of the augurs who were seers of the Roman pagan religion. They were able to predict the future by "reading" the flight of birds in an area prescribed by the lituus. Surface textured from burial but very well preserved with the 24karat gold surface restored. Jewelry gift boxed with certificate of authenticity.
