- Lot Description
Forged iron, just over 4 1/8" length. Inverted truncated pyramidal form with flared base over an elongated pyramidal spike. Used to straighten sword blades damaged in battle. The spike was driven into a log or tree and the blade edge hammered against to top. Considerable effects of use in its working life. See The Mastermyr Find, Arwidsson and Berg, #72 for a related example found in Gotland, Sweden.
