- Lot Description
Gilt bronze, just under 1 1/8" total height with centered cross beam and a square at the intersection. The back hollowed for the inclusion of a sacred relic. The front with remnants of an incised cross. A Jerusalem cross representing five crosses in one representing the five wounds of Jesus. That form was, known as the Crusader's cross, having been an element in the arms of Godfrey of Bouillon which he wore during the First Crusade. He was made the first King of Jerusalem. For that reason, it is also known as the Jerusalem Cross. Worn from its period of use. Professionally refurbished with the 24karat gold overlay restored, on a modern 18" gilt Sterling silver neck chain and gift boxed with a certificate of authenticity.
