Property from the Estate of David Rapkin
Description:
Two African Painted Wood Masks, probably Baule, Ivory Coast, mask painted red and black and another white and red mask, probably Baule/Guro, Ivory Coast.
Provenance of red mask: Exhibited "African Art in Unlikely Places: The David Rapkin Collection," University of Nebraska, Eisentrager-Howard Gallery, 2012.Measurements: Height: of Baule mask, 17 in. x Width: 8 in. x Depth: 6 1/4 in.
Condition:
Overall good condition, general wear and scratches, some wear to paint, age cracks to wood Baule mask with old crack and losses to top of interior, crack to bottom interior, the other with loss and crack to top rim of interior and a chip to the left eye.
