Pair of American School Portraits, 19th Century, both unsigned, possibly James L. Wattles (American, 19th Century) one depicting a seated woman in black dress with lace collar, the other depicting a seated gentleman in a black coat with gold button and chain, both in giltwood frames. Together with old inscription mounted to board 'Painted April 11th 1851, Michael Warner, by J. L. Wattles'. Frame size: 39 1/2 in. x 32 1/4 in.Measurements: Height: by sight of both 35 1/2 in. x Width: 28 1/4 in.
Condition:
Overall fair condition, both relined, in need of cleaning, craquelure, the portrait of a gentleman with extreme craquelure and areas of inpainting throughout, the portrait of the woman with some small areas on inpainting in hair and along left and bottom edge.Buyer Pays Shipping Cost.
