Property from a Private Collection, Savannah, GA
Description:
Pair of George III Mahogany Knife Boxes, Last Quarter 18th C, of serpentine form, the interior inlaid with a star and fitted for cutlery storage, raised on bracket feet.Measurements: Height: 13 3/4 in. x Width: 8 3/4 in. x Depth: 9 1/2 in.
Condition:
Fair condition, one lid warped and does not close fully, losses to cockbeading on lid, loss to front left corner of base, age cracks to both sides along back edge, age cracks to interior divisions, age crack across back, sticker residue on back, back right foot with loss, the other box with losses to cockbeading of lid, lacking loop handle, age cracks along back edge to both sides, age crack across back panel, age cracks to interior divisions, front bracket foot loose, back right foot with loss, both with age cracks to veneers of tops, and old marks and scratches.
