Montaigne, Michael de, ESSAYES WRITTEN IN FRENCH, 1613 G397, ESSAYS WRITTEN IN FRENCH BY MICHAEL LORD OF MONTAIGNE DONE INTO ENGLISH ACCORDING TO THE LAST FRENCH EDITION BY JOHN FLORIO (London, 1613), folio, engraved portrait (cut round and mounted), signature 'Oo' smaller and apparently inserted from another copy.Measurements: Height: 11 1/2 in. x Width: 7 3/4 in. x Depth: 2 in.
Condition:
Worn condition, title page with sections missing affecting the imprint and laid down, title and next few leaves defective affecting a few letters and repaired, with some paper reinforcements, dampstaining and other marginal defects, contemporary calf, rebacked, small loss to edge of upper board.
