Description:
Michaux and Nuttall's North American Sylva, 1871, 5 Vols., "The North American Sylva;, or, a Description of the Forest Trees of the United States, Canada, and Nova Scotia. Translated from the French of F. Andrew Michaux, with Notes by J. Jay Smith," 3 vols., published Philadelphia: WM Rutter & Co., 1871, printed by Collins, with portrait of Michaux cut round and laid down on interior cover of Volume 3, containing 156 color illustration plates (lacking engraved portrait frontis, with library embossed stamps on early leaves of each volume, occasional foxing and spotting throughout), together with "The North American Sylva; Or, a Description of The Forest Trees of the United States, Canada, and Nova Scotia, Not Described in the Work of F. Andr3w Michaux, by Thomas Nuttall," 3 volumes in 2, published Philadelphia: WM Rutter & Co., 1871, printed by Collins, containing 121 colored illustration plates (occasional foxing throughout, with library embossed stamps on early leaves of each volume) all uniformly bound as a 5 volume set, half bound calf with speckled boards and banded spines, with gilt edges, library reference numbers taped to spines.Measurements: Height: 10 3/4 in. x Width: 7 1/2 in. x Depth: 1 1/2 in.

Overall good condition, toning to paper, spines and edges worn, see description.
