WORLD WAR I and II Period, Collection of Historical NOTABLES, Five (5) Signed Historical Autographed Items, each Very Fine or Better.
This historic Collection Includes;
1. Arthur James Balfour (1848-1930) British Foreign Secretary from 1916 to 1919. In November 1917, he issued the Balfour Declaration, a public statement announcing the British government's support for the establishment of a "national home for the Jewish people." Boldly Signed, "Arthur James Balfour" measuring 3.5" long, on a 5" x 1.25" clipped piece of heavy period paper.
2. Leon Blum (1872-1950) French politician who served three times as Prime Minister-- first socialist and First Jewish Prime Minister of France. Signed, "Leon Blum" on letterhead of Le Populaire, the socialist party's newspaper, 5.25" x 8.25". The date 7/2/48 was added in another hand. 1948 being the year of Independence for the new State of Israel.
3. Joe Rosenthal (1911-2006) American photographer who took the iconic photograph of the American Flag being raised during the Battle of Iwo Jima, for which he won the Pulitzer Prize. Nicely Signed, "Joe Rosenthal" on 8" x 10" photo of the Flag Raising on Iwo Jima in black marker.
4. Samuel I. Rosenman (1896-1973) He coined the term "New Deal" for Franklin Roosevelt. First person to hold title of White House Counsel (1943-46). Lawyer, Judge, Democratic activist, presidential speechwriter.Typed Letter Signed, "Samuel I Rosenman", 1 page, 7.25" x 10.5", New York, Mar. 21, 1950. Giving permission to quote from works he has published concerning Franklin Roosevelt.
5. Leonora Speyer (1872-1956) American Violinist and Poet; she won the Pulitzer Prize in 1927 for poetry. Poem titled "A German Woman Weeps. Meditation on V-E Day," printed in a 4-page brochure, 4" x 9". Signed, "Leonora Speyer" in blue ball point above her printed name. Another hand notes that it was signed July 19, 1954. (5 items).
