July 4, 1824 "Great Anniversary Festival" Celebration Admission Ticket "To the COLLATION at FANEUIL HALL"
July 4, 1824-Dated 48th Anniversary of the Signing of the Declaration of Independence, "Great Anniversary Festival" Celebration Admission Ticket Card, "To the COLLATION at FANEUIL HALL", Complete, (Boston), Fine.
This remarkable historic authentic 48th Anniversary of the Signing of the Declaration of Independence celebration ticket is printed in black on heavy card stock of the period, measuring about 5" x 4", well centered and complete. Overall uniform light expected tone and has a small brown stain at the lower left corner as shown. It has the huge, boldly handwritten signature of original owner of this Ticket on the blank reverse in period brown ink. This celebration held at historic FANEUIL HALL in Boston, was held for the 48th Anniversary of the Signing of the Declaration of Independence! The "Collation" mentioned was a fancy name of a light lunch at 1:00 pm. In the center circle is space for writing the name and has the original issuing Secretary's signature, "Eben,(ezer) Clough", having the serial number at top, "No. 469". Quote from John Adams is printed in a circular type, a quote made at the original Signing of the Declaration in 1776. An important very early July 4th Celebration Ticket to FANEUIL HALL, the first and earliest we have ever seen in any form!
The National Archives "Adams Papers" retains two original Letters To John Adams from Ebenezer Clough, dated June 24th, 1824 (this Event) and on June 26th, 1826, for the 50th Anniversary (held on the very day John Adams died), which read, in full:
"Boston June 30th. 1824 --- Dear Sir,
