(LARS ERNSTER) (Hungarian: Ernster Lszl; May 4, 1920 - November 4, 1998). His Gold Nobel Medal.
(1975) Superb design and quality A10 Nobel Prize Gold Nominating Committee Medal for Economics, PCGS graded Specimen-66. "A10" is the date on the edge -- it corresponds with the year 1975. This exceptionally rare medal measures 26 mm in diameter and contains 20.2 grams of pure gold. Unusual, stylized, pebbled surfaces (as made). Obverse Design: Head of Alfred Nobel above crossed Cornucopias. Reverse Design: three small Swedish Crowns surrounding a Radiant Star at center, with a larger Swedish Crown above. Privy marks and date "A10" on the edge. Please note, for each year of service on the Royal Academy of Science's nominating committee for laureates in Economics, the member would receive a Silver medal identical in size and form, to the the Gold medal offered currently. Those members who served for Ten Years or more were given the option of trading in their Ten Silver medals for one in Gold. Thus, the choice facing the committee member was to decide whether having Ten Silver examples were better (or not) than a owning a single Gold version. We can only assume that not many ten year members went ahead with the conversion, making this Gold version exceedingly rarer. We can also assume that many members never made it to their tenth anniversary. An extraordinary opportunity to acquire this Gold Nobel Medal.
From the estate of Lars Ernster, a member of the Board of the Nobel Foundation from 1977-1988, giving him just one shot at converting his silver medals to gold.
Considering that awarded gold Nobel Prize medals have sold for $1-$2 million, this is wonderful, much more affordable alternative and one which will allow you to say, without prevarication, that you have a gold medal from the Nobel Foundation. This exceptional Gold Medal is not only exceedingly rare, it is PCGS certified Specimen
