The real "value" lies in the wonderful vivid Inscription, the Signature, and the Recipient. Frank King, the recipient was the father of Ann King, a Governess to the older children of Robert Kennedy from 1961 to 1963. Here, John F. Kennedy signs in a black marker, and his Inscription and Autograph are exceptionally large sharp and bold, written across most of the central portion of the entire page. John F. Kennedy wrote this historical book in 1940 as an answer to Winston Churchill's "While England Slept." The 1940 1st American edition of JFK's first published book, was his senior thesis at Harvard, analyzing England's decision to resist Hitler. We have located several signed copies of that 1st Edition, currently priced online between $50,000 to $25,000 by retail dealers. This excellent later 1961 edition, published a mere two years prior to Kennedy's assassination, is not as rare as a book, yet it is magnificent and valuable due to its Inscription and signature. Kennedy's fame and popularity as an author helped to propel him to win the Presidency twenty years later. A superb addition for any John F. Kennedy, Political, WW II or Presidential collection.
