This Hardcover Book, 359 pages, measuring about 6.5" x 9.25", original green cloth binding with gilt decoration on the spine. Printed on quality, handmade laid paper that was not trimmed (as made). The cover and spine have some light wear but the internal pages are all tight, crisp, and clean. Besides being an outdoors man, hunter, and soldier, Theodore Roosevelt was also a bit of an intellect. Originally published in 1897, reprinted here by The Knickerbocker Press (a subsidiary of G.P. Putnam's Sons of New York and London) in 1902. In this book, Roosevelt supplies his wisdom, plus includes that of other statesmen, including George Washington and James Monroe, as well as Chapters on "The Manly Virtues and Practical Politics", "How Not To Help Our Poorer Brother", and "The Law of Civilization and Decay", among others. A nice copy, an interesting and important read.
