June to November 1865-Dated, Hardcover Edition titled, "Harper's New Monthly Magazine Volume XXXI," Published by Harper & Brothers, New York, Very Fine.
A hardcover leather and marbled board, binds the enclosed 816 marble edged pages of this Harper's compilation presentation, measuring 6.5" x 10." HARPER'S MONTHLY MAGAZINE VOLUME XXXI - JUNE TO NOVEMBER, 1865. Contents include articles, poems, essays, and illustrations by noted authors and illustrators of the day. This edition features the illustrated serials Armadale by Wilkie Collins and Our Mutual Friend by Charles Dickens. Interesting articles on the Social Life of China, Teheran, Nevada, Oxford University, Pozzuoli and Vesuvius volcanoes, and dozens of others. Civil War articles include Four Years Under Fire at Charleston, Jefferson Davis, Dirge for the Fallen, Recollections of General Grant, Abraham Lincoln, Sherman"s Great March, Recollections of General Sheridan, and more. Moderate shelfwear and rubbing to leather. Binding tight and pages clean. Very nice condition.
