This rare historic account First Edition Anti-Slavery Book measures about 5" x 7.75", with 377 pages, hard embossed covers and embossed gilt titled spine. The title page reads, in full: "Prison Life and Reflections; A Narrative of the Arrest, Trial, Conviction, Imprisonment, Treatment, Observations, Reflections, and Deliverance of Work, Burr, and Thompson, who suffered an Unjust and Cruel Imprisonment in Missouri Penitentiary, for Attempting to Aid some Slaves to Liberty." Illustration on frontis page of "The Interior of the Jail in Palmyra, Missouri" discussed on page 18, showing the white Burr and Thompson their legs shackled, confined together with other captured Runaway Slaves. Some expected wear to cover corners and spine, minor foxing to text, whole and complete.
