OMAS APOLLO 11 18KT WHITE GOLD OVERLAY LIMITED EDITION 69 FOUNTAIN PEN, H 7" DIA 5 3/8":The pen having an 18kt white gold overlay engraved with Apollo 11 moon landing images and having a dark resin body with silver dust dispersed throughout. Accompanied by the original large aluminum cylindrical display box, a plastic pen tube, a certificate, and a velveteen sleeve. Created in 1999 to commemorate the 30th anniversary of the first moon landing. According to the designers: "69 pieces [were] produced (Apollo 1969) in solid grey-white gold with silver and white gold particles embedded in night-blue resin, symbolizing distant stars. The cap and barrel are magnificently detailed with engravings that include the Earth, Apollo 11, the lunar jeep, the landing of the LEM and man's first step on the Moon. The 18kt gold nib is engraved with the symbolic Eagle emblem of the Columbia mission." It is also noted that the pen "pneumatically rises and lowers [from the aluminum case], emulating the launching" (From manufacturer's magazine).
The cylindrical display box has various marks, scuffs, and surface scratches throughout.
