GEORG JENSEN 'BLOSSOM' STERLING TEA & COFFEE SET WITH TRAY, C.1930, NINE PIECES, H 2 3/8"-11":The Danish sterling silver set includes 1 teapot, H.5 1/2", 1 coffee pot, H.8 1/4", 1 creamer, 1 sugar bowl (lacking cover), 1 waste bowl, and 1 set of sugar tongs, L3 7/8"; each piece is marked "GJ" in a square (circa 1933-1944), along with "925.S, Sterling Denmark" and numbers 2, 2D, 2B (see additional photo). Together with 1 sterling silver oval tray with blossom handles, measures W.28 3/4" x 19 1/2". Marked underneath with "Georg Jensen" in a beaded oval (circa 1930s), along with "925.S", "2 G", and "Sterling, Denmark" (see additional photo). Total weight is approximately 234.47 troy ounces.
Condition
Troy ounce weights are approximate, as follows: teapot-22.05; coffee pot-21.93; hot water kettle-28.00; burner and stand-29.03; creamer-6.71; waste bowl-5.85; sugar bowl-4.14; tongs-0.73; and tray-116.03. The rim of the sugar bowl has a couple dings, a foot of the waste bowl is slightly impressed upward into the well, the lid and spout opening of the coffee pot are slightly misshapen, a ding noted to the spout of the teapot, 1 foot of the creamer is slightly impressed upward into the well, a couple dings to one side of the hot water kettle, a couple dents to the burner, the sugar tongs appear to be slightly bent at the ends. The kettle stand, and lids for the teapot and coffee pot are unmarked. All handles have age-related cracks. The sugar bowl lacks a cover. There are very faint scratches over the pieces due to use.
