1936 BERLIN OLYMPICS, POLISHED STAINLESS STEEL RELAY BEARER'S TORCH, 1936, 2 PCS., H 10 1/2" (WITH FAUX TORCH 30"):1936 Berlin Olympic Relay Bearer's torch, of polished stainless steel construction, with the engraved inscription: "Als Dank Demtrager Organisations-Komitee fur Die XI Olympiade Berlin 1936", roughly translated: "Thank-you Organising Committee for the Olympic Games in Berlin 1936 XI". Also engraved on the handle is the route the torch bearer's took from Olympia, Greece to Berlin, Germany. 10 1/2" H. with a faux magnesium flare (used during the 1936 games), which inserts into the metal torch which then measures 31" H. overall. The 1936 Olympics was the first of the modern Olympic era to have the torch relay from Olympia, Greece to the Olympic site.
