- Lot Description
Titled 'The Sun Watcher' by a gallery card on the reverse, signed lower right and dated '41, board measures 30 x 20 inches, frame measures 34.5 x 24.5 inches. James Britton Gantt was born in 1911 and studied at the Kansas City Art Institute, first under Ross Braught and then Thomas Hart Benton. On the reverse is a paper label with what appear to be accesion or inventory numbers and a title of THE SUN WATCHER, James B. Gantt, $150.00.Considerable professional restoration and in-painting throughout the image.
