Late 19th Century Rust Satin Promenade Dress c1890. The lot features a matching rust colored satin bodice and skirt. The bodice features oversized leg of mutton sleeves, a high standing collar with a bow at the back, large rectangular lapels, a gathered front chintz insert that once had lime green and white silk overlay, cuffed sleeves, and an attached belt. As well as rust silk velvet applied to the collar, lapels, cuffs, and belt. There is also an applied beaded trim in black, copper, and clear glass beads. The inside of the bodice features stays by Coraline dress stays, brown and white floral printed cotton lining inserts, and hook and eye closures. The rather simple skirt features a smooth front and gathered back with only brown velvet trim at the hemline, it is lined in a brown cotton chintz, has hook and eye back closures and wool braid tape loops along the waistline for attaching the bodice. Laying flat the bodice measures: bust 15'', waist 13'', sleeve 23.5''. The skirt measures: waist 12'', front length 42'', back length 42.5''. The pairing is in fair condition with wear and losses to the beaded trim, underarm stains, missing its original silk insert at the bust. The skirt has staining, spots, and wear/holes in the velvet hem. Please see the photos. If you have any doubt, please ask questions!
