2 Antique 19th Century Quilts Red and green c1860 quilt with Carolina Lily and Bouquet blocks, measuring 66 x 84 inches. Comprised of 20 blocks, 17x 17 inches, set straight, 4 by 5, with 10 Bouquet blocks and 10 Carolina Lilly blocks. It is hand pieced, hand appliquéd, hand embroidered, and hand quilted. There is thin cotton batting and a solid red reverse. The edge is finished with the back brought to the front, and applied by hand. It is in poor condition with spots and toning, fabric deterioration in the Turkey red, splits, and several green appliqués are lifting. One Bouquet block has several hand embroidered initials in petty point embroidery within the block. Along with a c1860 Sunflower quilt measuring 85 x 86 inches. There are 9 round blocks, about 12 inches in diameter, set straight, 3 by 3, appliquéd onto a white ground. There is a 16 inch white border along the 4 sides, with corner cut outs along the bottom for a 4 post bed. There is thin cotton batting and a white cotton reverse. The edge is finished with an applied white fabric binding, by hand. It is hand pieced, hand appliquéd, and hand quilted. It is in poor condition with several spots, minor edge wear, but the red fabric has deteriorated. There is a hand inked stamp in the top border, center, Mary A Daines.
