Information provided by the Artist: Mark Goudy lives in Berkeley, California. His educational background includes a BS in biology and a master’s in electrical engineering. He came to ceramics late in life, following varied careers—musician, chemistry lab technician, and twenty years as a digital hardware design engineer in the computer graphics industry. Goudy’s current project integrates his engineering and artistic selves to create a new body of work at the intersection of organic forms grounded in nature and digital algorithmic design, celebrating the connection between art and science. In his own words, “I gravitate toward organic forms I encounter in nature: weathered stones, dune fields, and ocean surfaces. My goal is to abstract these elements into my work.” Mark's other passions are wilderness adventuring and international travel. He has journeyed to over sixty countries around the globe and finds the exposure to other cultures and environments to be mind-expanding and an unparalleled resource for new ideas.
