Fair market value: $1500Information provided by the Artist: José M. Flores Nava (he/him/él) is a Southern California-based artist. He was born in Mexico and moved to the U.S. at the age of 12. While his interest in the visual arts began at an early age, it wasn't until college that he decided to pursue art as a field of study. Employing a combination of ceramic techniques along brightly colored surfaces, he focuses on the relationship between products of labor and familiar objects. His sculptures take forms associated with household utilitarian needs, as well as crumbled up vessels associated with labor. Using buckets and paint cans as vessels, Nava’s work asks the viewer to consider not only the means that labor and its produce sustain our society but also the individuals whose labor said society depends on. José Flores Nava holds a Master of Fine Arts from California State University, Fullerton. He is a DACA recipient and is currently pursuing a career as an artist and educator.

To pick up your artwork at the Crocker Art Museum, appointments will be available on a first-come, first-served basis for Sunday, June 9 and Monday, June 10. A weblink to reserve your pick-up time will be sent to you upon payment of your invoice. Buyers may also ship their work at their own expense. Email artauction@crockerart.org for more information.
