Information provided by the Artist: John Yoyogi Fortes is a painter, exploring physical and psychological landscapes of self and identity through a bicultural lens. John has exhibited throughout the U.S. and internationally. He’s included in numerous private collections such as the Asian American Art Centre in N.Y., the Nevada Museum of Art, the Triton Museum of Art, and the Crocker Art Museum. He was included in the International Arts & Artists exhibition, Infinite Mirror: Images of American Identity, which traveled to museums and universities throughout the Eastern United States. Fortes received grants from SMAC and the CAC, was awarded a Joan Mitchell Foundation Grant, and was nominated for the Alliance of Artists Communities, Vision from the New California Project. In 2023, he was a Heinz Family Foundation Award Nominee and received a KALA Art Institute Fellowship and their Veteran’s Award. He’s attended residencies at Bemis Center for Contemporary Art, the Joan Mitchell Center, and KALA Art Institute.
To pick up your artwork at the Crocker Art Museum, appointments will be available on a first-come, first-served basis for Sunday, June 9 and Monday, June 10. A weblink to reserve your pick-up time will be sent to you upon payment of your invoice. Buyers may also ship their work at their own expense. Email artauction@crockerart.org for more information.
