Information provided by the Artist: Annie Murphy Robinson was born in Sacramento in the late 1960s. She has always created art and has been showing work professionally for the last 18 years. Murphy-Robinson currently shows with Arcadia Contemporary in New York. Her work has been collected nationally and internationally in both private collections and Museums. She teaches her method of “charcoal sanding” in workshops and online and has won and placed in many juried contests, including winning the grand “Draper” prize in 2019. Her work is influenced greatly by life experiences, and she creates works that come from memories—recreated and born from longing or trauma. She uses her work as a catalyst to heal and to give meaning to often unfortunate occurrences.
