• Lot Description
  Lot of 6 Japanese Edo Period Weights. During the beginning of the Edo period (late 1600's), the silk industry was growing in Japan, and the shape of the weight is said to have come from the shape of the silkworm cocoon. To avoid fraud, the making of these weights were only allowed by the government to be made by the Goto-shinobi family. On the weights there are the markings of the family crest. Very old and heavy. Domestic shipping $18. USPS shipping cost only, no additional fees for in-house materials or handling. International shipping calculated at end of auction.
