- Lot Description
Albumen photograph, 14.5 x 18.25 in., mounted and housed in carved wood frame, approx. 20 x 24.5 in. Formal studio portrait taken by Alexander Gardner during a Yankton Delegation visit to Washington on February 23, 1867, showing Wa-jin-ka (The Bird) and Si-ha-han-ska (Long Foot) seated together, wearing traditional Sioux dress and holding pipe tomahawks.
Condition
Toning to print, with some discolored streaks (possibly a result of adhesive used in mounting the photograph). Some light spotting.
Item is in good condition for age with minor repair to stretcher and minor age splits.
