- Lot Description
Winchester 4th Model 1866 SRC
.44RF caliber, 20" round barrel with full magazine, S/N 156988 (mfg. ca 1881). Blued finish, brass frame, steel buttplate, walnut stock and forend. Two-line barrel mark reads: WINCHESTER-REPEATING-ARMS NEW HAVEN, C.T. / KINGS-IMPROVEMENT-PATENTED-MARCH 29, 1877, OCTOBER 16, 1860 . Caliber mark " .44 RF " on barrel forward of frame and " 44 Cal " on bottom of lifter. 1873 marked rear sight leaf. Saddle ring in reverse frame; no cleaning rods in butt.
Good. Retains no finish with an oxidized brownish gray patina that is more mottled towards the muzzle. Metal flecked with surface oxidation and some light pitting nearer the muzzle. Barrel band screw missing. Brass with a nice, uncleaned butterscotch color. Markings all remain legible, mechanically functional, good bore with light to moderate pitting. Wood dark and uncleaned with scattered bumps, dings and mars, along with some very minor chipping around the toe.Condition
