- Lot Description
Printed broadside, 28 x 42 in. A Mighty National Event, advertising a President's Day Event hosting President William McKinley at the Pan-Am Exposition. Buffalo, NY: The Courier Company, 1901.
The day after delivering his speech at the Pan-Am Exposition, Leon Czolgosz shot President William McKinley while he was in a receiving line. Despite having the x-ray machine on display at the exposition, doctors opted not to use the new technology because they were uncertain of its side effects. A week later, the president died from his wounds, leaving the White House to Theodore Roosevelt.
Condition
Fragile with separation in many portions of the poster as well as tears at the folds.
Some wear to trays, especially at corners. Cherry bark box with damage from shrinking (see photos). Stacking box on stand with general wear with some minor losses to inlay.
