JOURNAL OF A TRAPPER - OR - NINE YEARS IN THE ROCKY MOUNTAINS 1834-1843....BEING A GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF THE COUNTRY, CLIMATE, RIVERS, LAKES, MOUNTAINS, ETC., AND A VIEW OF THE LIFE LED BY A HUNTER IN THOSE REGIONS. Boise, Idaho: Syms - York Company, 1921. (With added stamped notice: "Copyright 1914 Appendix.") 8 1/2 by 5 3/4 inches in the original dark red cloth. Howes R-537. Russell (1814-1892) was born in Maine but traveled to Oregon at age 20 with Wyeth's second expedition. His journal includes an early description of Yellowstone.
