Wells Fargo & Co. cover, 3c Green, addressed to "Chips, San Francisco, Cal.," blue "Wells, Fargo & Co. Los Angeles / Mar 18" oval handstamp.
A desirable express cover dedicated to one of Wells Fargo's best known employees, Pilsbury "Chips" Hodgkins (1825-1892), who served with the express company principally as a messenger over a period of almost 40 years.
Item is in good condition. Reverse side of lid has added supports to prevent splitting to lid center joining.Condition
