- Lot Description
English (Sheffield), 1867. A sterling silver lidded water jug by John Harrison & Co., with gadrooned and fluted decoration and scroll handle, the engraved band featuring an armorial and motto Ung Roy Uny Foy Ung Loy, with full impressed marks to underside; oah. 11.25 in., wt. 30.79ozt (957.5g).
The motto and catamount crest are associated with the de Burgh or Burke family of England and Ireland, with notable members dating to the early 12th century.
Condition
Repair to base of handle.
