8.94 in. triangular blade, 13.875 in. overall. Blued blade, hilt and guard with 8 pyramid-shaped projections on the outside of the knuckle guard, including the pommel cap. Face of guard is marked in three lines: US / L.F. & C. / 1917. Walnut grip. Iron mounted leather scabbard marked JEWELL 1918. This is the less common, earlier production LF&C knife with an additional projection on the front face of guard, a feature that was eliminated on the majority of the production models. A scarce variant of the 1917 Trench Knife for an advanced fighting knife collection.
