- Lot Description
.30-40 Krag caliber, 30" barrel, S/N 3091. Left of receiver marked "U.S." over "1894, Springfield Armory, 3091." Grooved hand guard with faint 1894 cartouche. This is a Model 1892, manufactured in and dated 1894 with 1896 upgrades.
Its serial number 3,091 indicates in fact it was one of the first 4,000 krag Rifles all manufactured in 1894.
Good condition. Much of the finish remains on the barrel which has a light plum patina. Some wear on front barrel band with scratches from bayonet. Stock has numerous dents from age and a repaired crack along the grain at the wrist.Condition
