- Lot Description
.54 caliber, 6" barrel. Browned and case hardened finish, brass furniture, captive ramrod, walnut stock. Lock with standard 3-line Ames markings forward of the hammer and USN/1843 to the rear. Breech of barrel with USN/1843/JCB/P inspection. Only 2,000 of these US naval percussion pistols were produced by Ames ca 1842-1847.
Condition
Very good to near fine. All marks remain crisp and sharp. Barrel with traces of brown, the rest in muted gray patina. Brass with a medium ocher patina. Lock functional, bore good. Stock crisp was scattered bumps and handling marks.
