Pike, Benjamin. PIKE'S ILLUSTRATED DESCRIPTIVE CATALOGUE of optical, mathematical and philosophical instruments : manufactured, imported, and sold by the author ; with the prices affixed at which they are offered in 1848. Volume I, only (of 2). 7 1/4 by 4 1/2 inches, complete in 346 pages including index. In later plain stiff brown wrapper covers. An early catalogue issued by this New York City firm, with a wood engraved frontis illustration showing their building at 294 Broadway. Includes a vast array of items for sale, each priced, including surveying chains, telescopes, drawing instruments, globes, microscopes, telescopes, sundials, compasses, etc., etc. Pike was born in London in 1777 and came to New York City at the age of 21. With restoration to the wrapper corners and a new paper spine - complete and clean, Very Good. Housed in a modern cardboard folder with a printed paper label to the spine.Condition
