- Lot Description
Tiffany Marked US Model 1850 Foot Officers Sword
32" slightly curved single-edged blade with 8" false edge and 22" wide, stopped median fuller. Blade etched with a variety of marital and patriotic motifs, panoplies of arms and flowing foliate scrolls. Reverse etched with large U.S. in the center and TIFFANY / & Co. / NEW YORK in a shield above the ricasso. 6" hilt with cast brass guard and single knuckle bow, grooved wood grip covered in brown leather with 12 wraps of twisted wire. No scabbard present.
Good. Blade a generally dull gray patina with the tip slightly bent. Most of the etching remains clearly visible. Hilt with a dark patina, grip with some wear, possibly re-wrapped. Blade slightly loose in the hilt, with multiple impact marks at the peen in the pommel, suggesting the blade may have been out of the hilt at some point in time.Condition
