UNIQUE ALBUM, CA. 1920, WITH IMAGES OF SHAKESPEAREAN ACTORS WITH ACCOMPANYING QUOTES IN CALLIGRAPHY:
Lincoln, N.W. STARS IN MY SHAKESPERIAN (sic) SKY. (Bowling Green, Ohio: By the Assembler, ca. 1920). 15 1/4 by 13 1/4 inches in full maroon leather binding with gilt titling to the upper cover and gilt tooling to the borders of both covers. With a modern rebacked spine, leather with gilt stamping and titling. A "labor of love," assembled by Mrs. Nettie Willard Lincoln for the Bowling Green (Oh.) Public Library in the early 1920's. There is a printed title page but all the other captions, quotes, etc. were carried out by Mr. Budd A. Stewart, Architect, in a neat and careful hand in ink. There are approximately 40 illustrations of famous Shakespearean actors of the day, including Julia Marlowe, Kyrle Bellew, E.H. Sothern, Ada Rehan, Walker Whiteside, et. al. - in dramatic poses or actual theatrical scenes. The majority of the images are high quality photogravures (some signed in the plate), although a few (3-4) are actual sepia toned albumen photographs.
SHIPPING. At the request of the buyer, Cowan's will authorize the shipment of purchased items. Shipments usually occur within two weeks after payment has been received. Shipment is generally made via UPS Ground service. Unless buyer gives special instructions, the shipping method shall be at the sole discretion of Cowan's Auctions, Inc..
