Probably English, ca 1830. A needlework sampler reading Fix on that course of life which is the most excellent, and / habit will render it the most delightful. We should take pru / dent care for the future; but not so as to spoil the enjoy- / ment of the present. Economy is no disgrace; it is better to / live on a little, than to outlive a great deal. / Next unto God dear parents I address, / Myself to you in humble thankfulness, / For all the care and pains on me bestowed, / The means of learning unto me allowed, / Go on I pray and let me still pursue, / Those golden arts the friendless never knew., signed Sarah Richards Aged eleven years. Housed in a wooden frame; 7.25 x 12.5 in. (sight).
